Why is Ruzuku unique?
I can publish unlimited courses and upload unlimited videos with Ruzuku, even with the free plan. Not every online course platform can offer these capabilities.
Ruzuku pricing
Ruzuku has a free plan that allows me to test the platform without commitment.
But this plan supports only five students. But I can host unlimited courses, unlimited videos, (though up to 2GB per video), unlimited live meetings and video conferences, plus an online community.
The Core plan, which costs $99 monthly, offers similar capabilities but with unlimited courses, while Pro, the ultimate plan, provides more advanced features like 4GB per video, custom domain, premium branding, and multiple instructor accounts. It’s available at $199 monthly.
I can save $191 and $391 yearly with the annual plan, respectively.
Feature 1: User experience of course builder
I loved that signing up was so straightforward.
I jumped right into creating a course because it was the only option on my dashboard after I signed up successfully. Ruzuku offered three course templates, but I decided to create one from scratch. I entered a course title and enabled the live chat feature and Discussion and People pages.
These features mean my students can chat with each other, have a discussion, and see other students.
The entire experience was beginner-friendly. Ruzuku continues to prioritize user-friendliness by providing a checklist offering quick launch guides. I found it helpful because it means I won’t miss important steps. What impressed me was that these guides didn’t get in the way of my work.
It transformed into a breadcrumb-like navigation at the top bar menu when I started building a course.
However, creating a module was a bit tedious, since there was no AI to help me out. I also found it surprising that a platform as user-friendly as Ruzuku didn’t think it was important to support bulk uploading of modules and lessons.
I added the modules and lessons one at a time, which took up time that I could have used for other things.
Besides these, I would rate my experience eight plus over ten (8+/10).
Feature 2: Learner engagement tools
Students can review assessments, hold discussions, and chat with one another.
And it seems like those are the only ways they can engage with their learning. Also, it looks like I can’t issue course completion certificates to students. If there is, I can figure it out.
I found comfort in the fact that I could host live sessions to interact with students. But it can accommodate only 60 students at a time and they can download the recordings for further learning.
Feature 3: Marketing and payment features
Also, Rukuzu’s native marketing capability is not up to what I expected.
So far, I can only do three things with Rukuzu: issue coupons, create sales pages, and send students course invitation links. But the sales pages look professional, and I can customize them easily with a simple drag-and-drop builder. The course invitation feature also works great for me.
However, I was expecting to see email and affiliate marketing features.
I also found that I can’t upsell or bundle courses. These are essential features for boosting customer’s average order value and driving student retention. But being able to integrate with Zapier means I can connect Rukuzu with other apps and extend its marketing capabilities.
Receiving payments was not an issue, since the platform can integrate seamlessly with Paypal and Stripe.
Feature 4: Scalability
The sheer volume of videos, courses, and students this platform can accommodate per account shows how scalable it is. I can also upgrade and downgrade my account seamlessly as my needs change.
I have no idea how many creators are using the platform, but it looks like it can handle a lot.
Feature 5: Affordability
I believe the pricing is fair since I can upload as much content as I want, even video, with the basic plan.
But it could be pricey for creators with limited videos and courses since they can get Thinkific and Teachable basic plans at less the price plus more advanced features. Rukuzu would be more competitive if it improves the native marketing and learner engagement features and adds AI capabilities.
The platform makes up for these limitations with a more affordable ultimate plan.
Feature 6: Unique features
The daily backup feature means I don’t have to stress about losing my course data if something goes wrong. And the global Content Delivery Network makes course pages load super fast. I tested this out with a student account and the experience was as promised.
