Table of Contents

Your landing page software should land you buyers. So I reviewed several landing page solutions, selected the most noteworthy of them, and tested tens of these top performers. After much testing, I distilled the 8 best landing page builders based on their use cases (there’s also a ninth landing page builder I’ve listed as a worthy mention).

Best Landing Pages By Use Cases

Instapage: Personalize content by device and location

Unbounce: Best landing page builder tool for AI split tests and creatives

ClickFunnels: Create sales funnels

Landingi: Free landing page builder + capture unlimited traffic and leads

Swipe Pages: Best for mobile optimized landing pages

Groove.cm: Unlimited landing pages and funnel builder

Leadpages: Zero design and coding experience

Wix: Expand from landing pages to full websites

How I Vetted And Tested Landing Page Builders

I evaluated over 20 landing page tools, rigorously testing 14. And then listed eight of the best, based on their use cases.

While my primary focus was landing page builders, I wasn’t restricted to those only. Many software solutions now combine multiple features like landing pages, email marketing, and website builders, as part of the trend toward all-in-one super-apps. So I factored this trend into my tests.

Design plays a pivotal role in landing page builders. My tests revolved around design intuitiveness, user-friendliness, the variety and organization of templates, and the efficiency of drag-and-drop builders.

Key questions for intuitiveness were: Is the builder straightforward? How obvious are the next steps? A user-friendly design, especially for beginners, ranks high. Additionally, having a wide array of organized templates indicates a superior design.

I checked the adaptability of drag-and-drop builders, considering both the speed and versatility of page creation. Customization, from colors to shapes, was essential. The broader the customization options, the higher the score.

Crucial features I reviewed include:

  • Landing page adaptability
  • AI capabilities
  • Tools like pop-ups and sticky bars
  • Integration with third-party apps
  • Website builder capabilities

I also explored additional features like payment gateways, A/B testing, and more.

Connecting with external apps was vital to gauge integration ease. AI tools, particularly those aiding in content creation, were tested for efficiency.

Considering future expansion, I assessed how seamlessly landing pages could evolve into full websites.

Page loading speed is paramount. I built several pages for each tool, ensuring design uniformity, and tested their speeds using PageSpeed Insights while also verifying my internet speed with Fast.com.

1. Instapage: Best to Personalize Content By Device And Location

Instapage offers standard, AMP, and file-upload landing page builders. But most beginners opt for the first two. The standard builder is user-friendly with drag-and-drop features. Although there’s a blank page builder for experts, I lean towards templates to save time.

Instapage smartly separates non-design features such as conversion goals and SEO, ensuring ease of access. Their 33 pre-designed blocks aid in rapid page design. Using these blocks, elements like FAQ sections, CTAs, and pricing tables can be designed in under an hour.

Pages I crafted loaded in two seconds; optimized images can further boost this.

Integration with marketing tools like Facebook and Google is direct, but platforms like Quora Ads need Zapier or API connectors. Connecting Instapage to Zoho CRM is seamless. There are 20 direct marketing tool integrations, and Zapier assists in adding more.

While Instapage offers no-code popup design, it’s slightly complex, and their guide is necessary. I experienced glitches like invisible popup background changes in previews. Modifying popups wasn’t easy, especially non-page elements. The popup form does allow code modifications, and I used a workaround for background styling.

Button customization is a highlight for Instapage – straightforward for any user. For sticky headers or footers, just use premade codes. Many elements like countdown timers and CTAs can be made sticky.

Instapage doesn’t offer website building.

The platform’s AI can refine content but doesn’t create from scratch. While useful for refining content, heavy reliance might affect your brand voice.

Instapage promotes personalized ad messaging to reduce customer acquisition costs by aligning ads with the audience and enhancing conversions. Though I didn’t explore this deeply, Instapage promises better conversions.

Instapage Pricing: From $199 per month for the “Build” plan with no conversion limits, one landing page builder, and unlimited domains.

2. Unbounce: Best For AI Split Tests And Creatives

Unbounce offers two landing page builders: Classic and Smart, and they offer ample tools for beginners and advanced professionals alike. The classic one supports Javascript, HTML, and CSS — but also drag-and-drop offering 100 templates and an on-page checklist that helped speed up my landing page creation.

What I especially liked is how Unbounce adapts each landing page template to specific use cases. For instance, when I chose a landing page template with a form or link, I was prompted to set my conversion goals. But when I tried to set goals for landing pages without forms, it prompted me to add a button, image, form, or text box with a link to the page.

On the other hand, the Smart Builder uses AI (on top of their proprietary conversion data) to create custom landing pages. I simply need to input the company descriptions, audience data, features, and benefits for it to generate a page. The AI content it generates is a good starting point, but you’ll need to add visuals, case studies, etc., to match it to your brand’s voice.

Next, let’s talk about its integrations. It supports nine native integrations, over 300 through Zapier, and supports webhooks. Even as a beginner, I could integrate Unbounce with Zoho mail to collect business leads without help from a developer.

But when it comes to their pop up builder and sticky bar templates — their design isn’t as intuitive. You get 50+ templates or can even design an opt in from scratch, but you’ll need to rely on their documentation.

Next, let’s talk about loading speed. At 25Mbps, one Unbounce landing page loaded in 0.9s on desktop, and 2.4s on mobile. Another took 3.2s on mobile, and 0.9s on desktop.

The software doesn’t come with a website builder, but it actually excels in building conversion-centric pages. It offers A/B testing and even has a “Smart Traffic” AI feature (that I couldn’t test) that automatically routes your visitors to the version of the page that works the best for them.

Unbounce Pricing: From $99 per month for the “Launch” plan with up to 500 conversions, 20k visitors, and one custom domain.

3. ClickFunnels: Best to Create Sales Funnels

ClickFunnels shines in helping you build sales funnels fast. Designing a custom landing page with ClickFunnels is quick due to dashboard guides. But adding a sticky bar took time, making the user experience subpar, and increasing the time cost.

Adding content to the landing pages using templates was quick. ClickFunnels provided clear content guidelines for each section.

Starting from a blank page took more time, but I could still replicate template-like pages. Note that ClickFunnels offers extensive customization to build landing pages. So consulting their documentation may be necessary for landing page design.

With a 25 Mbps internet speed, ClickFunnels’ landing pages load fast in 1.3 seconds on desktop and slow on mobile at 4.8 seconds.

I smoothly linked my ClickFunnels account with third-party apps. After setting up email notifications, I got alerts for every action, which is useful for tracking changes on my ClickFunnels setup.

ClickFunnels integrates natively with third-party tools like PayPal, Stripe, Twilio, and Slybroadcast. However, the tool connects with thousands of other applications using Zapier.

Building sticky bars wasn’t beginner-friendly and intuitive, as the process required multiple steps. I figured it out but found it time-consuming and frustrating.

While I had a smooth time testing behavioral triggers for ClickFunnels’ popups, learning to build them took time. I relied on their documentation as the design wasn’t intuitive for me.

ClickFunnels has a feature that lets you create multiple popups on your own landing page at once. But it’s only available in the classic builder. Since I use ClickFunnels 2.0, this feature is yet to be available for my version of the software.

ClickFunnels’ website builder functions as a funnel, converting visitors through a series of pages. It turns the entire website into a sales funnel, suitable for merging content marketing and sales on the same site.

I used Marketing.AI, a ChatGPT-like tool for ClickFunnels, to quickly create content for my funnel pages. Creating content for each landing page section improved my confidence in the content quality.

ClickFunnels’ content AI allows section edits, unlike typical auto-populated pages. This feature means fewer edits later, ensuring a better fit for your brand voice.

With Clickfunnels’ Payment.AI, I don’t need external payment gateways for my pages. Despite its name, Payments.AI is a ClickFunnels payment cluster, not an AI tool.

I could integrate with Payment.AI for items not on ClickFunnels’ restricted list. But I had to choose a currency before orders, as the first order sets the currency used thereafter.

ClickFunnels Pricing: From $127 per month for the “Basic” plan with unlimited pages, 10,000 contacts, and one domain.

4. Landingi: Free + Capture Unlimited Traffic and Leads

For a swift, budget-friendly landing page without web development skills, consider Landingi. Although its PageInsider feature adds cost, it saves you landing page testing time.

Landingi provides 300 templates, offering ample choices for my landing page design needs.

This landing page builder’s dashboard is intuitive and responsive, suitable for first-time users. It has action guides, and its interactive demo progresses only after you respond to a previous prompt.

However, page builder elements can glitch. I’ve seen distortions in my mobile landing page after adding a countdown timer. Always check for a red dot on the mobile icon.

Landingi uses smart sections, so I didn’t need to copy and paste repeat sections on other landing pages. Pages built on Landingi load slowly on both platforms. At 25 Mbps, it took 2.1s on desktop and 4.7s on mobile.

Integration on Landingi is smooth, but the setup isn’t beginner-friendly due to outdated guides. For example, while integrating with WhatsApp, the guide images differed from my experience, requiring extra time to figure things out.

With Landingi, I could build a popup using existing templates or blank pages, or upload saved popups from a file. For sticky bars, I used a template with a top bar and pinned it to the top of the page from the setting.

Landingi supports landing pages only. No website builder.

This landing page builder supports AI content creation and AI SEO tools, but the AI content feature is currently in beta. The page builder supports AI content in 123 languages. I made web pages in English and French — the two languages I speak.

Surprisingly, the AI content creation feature outperformed my expectations. I produced fairly coherent content with minimal human edits. Yet, the AI text function didn’t function for publishing. This is understandable, given its beta stage, so the overall experience wasn’t disappointing.

While Landingi offers PageInsider, an AI conversion tool, it’s not included in the general plan. The feature costs an additional $49 monthly.

Landingi withholds key features, offering them as incentives to upgrade. Some features remain accessible only as add-ons.

Using its PageInsider tool, this landing page builder helps you predict and double down on what would entice visitors to your page. The tool relies on past page data to suggest effective design elements. It considers metrics like Clarity Score, attention percentage, and Smart Map to guide CTA placement.

Landingi Pricing: It’s a free landing page tool (or at least has a lifetime free option with limited functionalities). Its paid plans start from $29 per month for the “Lite” plan with unlimited conversions, 5000 visits per month, and one custom domain.

5. Swipe Pages: Best to Create Mobile-Optimized Landing Pages

Swipe Pages aids better mobile ad conversions via app-like landing pages. Considering features, usability, and functions, I’d rate Swipe Pages as this list’s top landing page builder. It caters to all users, from beginners to experts. Pages load swiftly, and it offers diverse app integration.

Swipe Pages offers templates for AMP, Smart Page, and Mobile Slider landing pages. The first two vary only in speed; the design dashboard and templates are the same.

Swipe Pages boasts an uncluttered, intuitive, and responsive design dashboard, ensuring ease of use for beginners.

This builder provides ample template sorting options, saving time. For instance, locating an Ecommerce template takes just two clicks and under five seconds.

Besides, Swipe Pages supports full design and developer customizations — HTML, CSS, Javascript, tracking codes, SEO, and branding.

Speed tests reveal Swipe Pages’ AMP loads faster on desktop (1.4s) than mobile (3.2s). Surprisingly, pages built on Smart Pages outpaced AMP on desktop (1.3s) and mobile (2.9s). This landing page builder boasts top mobile speed compared to competitors.

Additionally, the Mobile Slider builder loaded swiftly at 0.7s on desktop and 2.9s on mobile, with my 38Mbps internet speed.

Swipe Pages includes a built-in lead notification feature, eliminating external tools. It offers native webhooks for lead forwarding. I integrated Zoho CRM in under 30 seconds. The builder supports 14 native integrations and more via Zapier.

Swipe Pages offers the most user-friendly popup builder on this list, negating code copying for advanced setups.

Yet, developers retain full customization control. A sticky bar setup takes under a minute, only 3 steps and 4 lines of premade code. I executed a popup setup in less than 60 seconds, and it worked. Advanced designs with tailored triggers are feasible.

Swipe Pages has a dual-purpose funnel and website builder like ClickFunnels, keeping speed, features, and intuitiveness intact.

Until August 2023, Swipe Builder lacked AI features. While crafting more pages, I examined Swipe Genie, its latest AI landing page builder.

Swipe Genie impressed me by conversing to gather brand, audience, and product details. Though it doesn’t add images, it crafted my most on-brand AI-made page. These AI-generated pages loaded fast on mobile (3.1s) and desktop (1.0s).

In under five minutes, it transformed conversation into content, design, and precise branding. I must admit, I was amazed.

Apart from its mobile-friendliness, this landing page builder offers extensive Ecommerce features: native payment gateways, coupons, multi-currency, and invoicing.

Swipe Pages Pricing: From $29 per month for the “Startup” plan with unlimited conversions and landing pages and one custom domain.

6. Groove.cm: Unlimited Landing Pages and Funnel Builder

Groove.cm’s onboarding was off-putting with its strong upsell tactics, but the tool became one of the best landing pages I tried. If you dislike constant sales pressure, finishing your setup might be tough.

Despite my displeasure, I appreciate Groove.cm’s extensive offerings, perhaps justifying its assertive sales strategy. The paid option lets you create unlimited landing pages and funnels.

This landing page builder is ideal if you want detailed control over your landing page without developer skills. After connecting the website, you can accomplish most tasks without a developer’s help.

It boasts 180+ landing page templates and versatile design choices. The intuitive interface supports code embeds and dev customization.

While user-friendly, its vast customization options might require consulting its knowledge base and guides.

Groove.cm surprises with intuitive use and extensive design choices, offering 1,330+ premade elements. It supports code embed and advanced customization.

Designing landing pages is manageable without using its documentation, but publishing them may need developer aid for DNS connection. Alternatively, you can opt for Groove.cm’s paid subdomain.

Groove.cm landing pages are slow: mobile loads in 5.2s, desktop in 1.6s, tested at 33 Mbps.

You can integrate Groove.cm with 21 external applications and configure them to work with your landing pages. It also supports Zapier integration, so you can connect Groove.cm with thousands of apps.

You can create pop-ups in the landing page builder. At first, I thought they weren’t working because they didn’t appear in the preview. However, after finalizing my DNS setup and verifying my domain on Groove.cm, the pop-up appeared on the live page.

I wish pop-ups appeared in previews, not just on live pages. Still, Groove.cm’s pop-ups are effective and offer varied triggers, animations, and uses.

Groove.cm offers a website builder with 12 templates and a funnel builder with 33 templates. You can design websites and funnels using the same landing page tools and layouts. I tested it by setting up a website; the process was similar, just with more pages.

Groove.cm lacks native AI features but recently introduced a dedicated AI platform, Groove.ai, for content and marketing automation.

Groove.cm excels with its drag-and-drop elements, offering extensive customization. Additionally, it provides a range of marketing, sales, Ecommerce, and email automation tools.

Groove.cm Pricing: From $497 for lifetime platinum access on the “5xPay plan” with unlimited traffic and leads and access to all Groove.cm apps.

7. Leadpages: Zero Design And Coding Experience

Leadpages require zero design and coding experience to build professional landing pages that convert. Most tools on the landing page builder are two or three clicks away and you can preview, apply, and remove most page elements in one click.

You can keep page designs simple or build intricate pages without stress. Whether custom coding or building your first landing page, the tool is intuitive and user-friendly.

Leadpages offers a smooth onboarding experience, allowing you to quickly choose to build a landing page, form, or website. It’s a straightforward feature that saves time.

With over 200 landing page templates, Leadpages organizes them for quick selection by conversion rate, popularity, or newness, and filters like theme, industry, color, or style.

Though a vast template library can be overwhelming, Leadpages simplifies the choice.

The checklist feature in the page builder aids in following best practices for CTAs, layouts, opt-in forms, and readability. It benefits both new and experienced users.

You can also seek feedback from a Leadpages expert, but it might not be necessary. The checklist and A/B testing should be sufficient to gauge what works with buyers.

Leadpages provides mobile responsive and intuitive page elements. With customizable templates, the landing page building experience is user-friendly and doesn’t require consultation with documentation.

Leadpages’ design approach is efficient, allowing you to test sections before adding them, ensuring they meet your design goals.

At 38.5 Mbps, Leadpages landing pages load quickly: 3.2 seconds on mobile and 0.9 seconds on desktop.

You can use 13 native integrations and 68 more via Zapier. I easily linked ConvertKit with Leadpages by copying the API and connecting the tools with one click.

Create popups and sticky bars in Leadpages using the Conversion Tools dropdown in the dashboard. Leadpages makes designing popups, writing content, and setting behavior easy.

My main challenge was embedding the popup code. Do this in the landing page builder under Settings > Analytics > Head Section Tracking Code. For assistance, refer to their comprehensive documentation or chat with weekday support from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST.

Leadpages’ website builder mirrors its intuitive landing page experience.

Leadpages’ AI content writer is in BETA and available for creating pop-ups and landing pages. It’s suitable for creating short text variations, not extensive content due to word count constraints.

This landing page builder lets you swap or insert AI content with one click. However, Unbounce’s AI is superior.

Leadpages excels with its landing page and form builders. It ensures user-friendly design with features like:

  • Leadmeter checklist
  • Elements grouping
  • Quick design access

Only Leadpages provides expert, human feedback. Apart from English, it also supports languages like German, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian.

Leadpages Pricing: From $37 per month for the “Standard” plan with unlimited traffic and leads and one custom domain.

8. Wix: To Expand Your Landing Pages to Full Websites

Wix rivals Leadpages, Swipe Pages, and Groove.cm, but is slower. Use it if planning other development needs with Wix; otherwise, consider competitors.

You can create a landing page with Wix in two ways — auto-generate with your info or customize a template.

With the auto-generate option, input your business details, pick a theme, and Wix sets up your site. This saved me time.

Wix’s builder feels similar to Leadpages — intuitive and responsive. However, Leadpages has a smoother design. What I appreciate about Wix is that tools are easily accessible without leaving the builder. On Leadpages, you exit the builder to adjust integrations. I prefer the unified Wix workspace, but overall, I lean towards Leadpages for its fluidity.

Using a Wix template, I was introduced to their AI writer. After providing a brief, Wix generated the creative. This feature surpasses Unbounce in incorporating visuals and content suggestions. But, Wix’s load time lags behind Unbounce’s, and unlike Unbounce, Wix doesn’t build entire pages.

Speed tests for the auto-generated page showed 6.5 seconds on mobile and 1.3 seconds on desktop. Template-built pages had similar load times with an 18.9Mbps connection, 6.0 seconds on mobile, and 1.2 seconds on desktop.

Wix integrations are native to the platform, which is beneficial for hosting all your work on Wix. If you have or plan to use data from external sources, consider using Zapier.

You can create pop-ups and sticky bars in Wix using the same drag and drop landing page mechanism.

Wix is a website builder that also lets you convert landing pages into websites. Moreover, you can use Wix’s AI writing assistant to create content for page sections or the whole website.

Wix’s CMS manages content efficiently. You can integrate social media for marketing and post directly from Wix.

Wix Pricing: From $4 per month for the “Connect Domain” plan with up to 500 MB storage, 1 GB bandwidth, and one custom domain.

Worthy Mentions

While it didn’t make it to my main list, I still want to mention a landing page software that I guess came close.

9. MailerLite: Integrated Email Marketing Workflows

MailerLite’s landing page builder has an intuitive, clutter-free interface. It has the best landing page builder — ahead of competitor email marketing solutions that offer a landing page builder feature (including MailChimp, ConvertKit, and ActiveCampaign).

Minor issues aside, I appreciate the seamless integration with email marketing and other tools, despite the slow mobile speed. You can select a landing page template or start from scratch. MailerLite offers over 550 templates across 16 categories like webinars, announcements, business, and deals.

Preview templates to see design capabilities. The landing page builder is intuitive and clutter-free, with a flexible drag-and-drop editor, offering more extensibility than ConvertKit. You can add multiple columns throughout the page, unlike Mailchimp’s single column. Save designs as templates.

I disliked being prompted for SEO details when saving landing page designs. It’s a minor issue, but it affects the user experience.

MailerLite is primarily an email marketing tool. You can your landing page to user groups, set up automations, use double opt-ins, and integrate Stripe.

Although the tool’s landing page options outperform comparable email marketing tools with landing page builders, its Achilles heel is the mobile speed at 4.4 seconds. But desktop pages load in 0.9 seconds at 25Mbps.

MailerLite supports eight native integrations, including Zapier, WordPress, Stripe, and Shopify, and Facebook Audiences. It also offers a REST API for developer integrations. You use Zapier to access hundreds more integrations without developer help.

To build MailerLite pop ups, go to the forms section on your dashboard, select a template, and choose a form type. Set its behavior and visibility. Attach the form to the landing page.

However, setting up sticky bars wasn’t as straightforward. The only way I got around it was to build a landing page using a template that has a prebuilt sticky bar feature. So, MailerLite doesn’t seem optimized for sticky bars.

MailerLite’s website drag and drop builder mirrors its landing page one.

This landing page builder provides an AI writing assistant for content, with guidance on prompts, though I didn’t test it.

I like that MailerLite connects its landing page builder to its email marketing solution in a non-intrusive way — unlike MailChimp. I have full control over what I choose to integrate or leave out and can even use solutions from third-party vendors or other MailerLite features.
